Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:22
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Working out your salvation requires spiritual discipline and wisdom. The Bible says, “Abstain from all appearance of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5:22). Do not deliberately expose yourself to situations that weaken your convictions or create opportunities for temptation. As the saying goes, “Don’t smell what you don’t plan to eat.”
God’s instruction concerning sin is not to negotiate with it but to flee from it. The Apostle Paul specifically commands believers to “Flee fornication” (1 Corinthians 6:18). Likewise, Jesus taught that if anything becomes a stumbling block to your spiritual life, it must be removed, no matter how valuable it may seem (Matthew 5:29–30). Nothing is worth losing your fellowship with God.
Not every friendship deserves your loyalty, and not every social media group deserves your participation. Some relationships, conversations, and online platforms gradually erode your spiritual life and normalize compromise. A wise believer chooses environments that strengthen faith rather than feed the flesh.
Prayer Nugget: Father, please, help me to separate from every relationship, habit, or influence that draws me away from You, and empower me to walk in holiness all the days of my life, in Jesus’ name.
