Attitude Determines Altitude (3)

Text: Genesis 12:1–4

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Abraham was a man whose attitude towards divine instructions was exemplary. When God instructed him to leave his father’s house, he obeyed and departed. He also promptly circumcised himself and the males in his household as God commanded, and later demonstrated remarkable obedience when asked to offer Isaac.

Even when God instructed him to send away Hagar and Ishmael, Abraham complied after receiving God’s direction (Genesis 21:12–14). He did not allow emotional attachment to override divine instruction. His life demonstrates that genuine faith is not merely hearing God’s Word but responding to it with obedience.

The question is: what is your attitude towards divine instructions? Is it prompt obedience, delayed response, selective obedience, or outright disobedience? Some people obey God only when His instructions are convenient, while others negotiate with God over what He has clearly commanded.

The king’s business requires haste (1 Samuel 21:8). When God gives an instruction, do not allow procrastination, fear, or personal convenience to delay your response. Delayed obedience can become disobedience when we continually postpone what God has commanded us to do. Your attitude towards God’s instructions can determine how far you go with Him.

Prayer Nugget: Father, give me the heart of prompt and complete obedience. Deliver me from selective obedience, procrastination, and every excuse that makes me delay Your instructions. Help me to honour Your Word above my personal preferences, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Attitude Determines Altitude (2)

Date: Tuesday, 3rd November, 2026

Text: Ecclesiastes 9:10

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Attitudes can be cold or warm, indifferent or enthusiastic, careless or committed. How early do you arrive at work? How promptly do you attend to assignments given to you? How quickly do you respond to emails and return business calls? These seemingly little things reveal the attitude you bring to your responsibilities.

Some people are habitually late, while others always have excuses for unfinished assignments. As a student, do you submit your assignments promptly or wait until the deadline is almost over? As an employee or business owner, do you treat your responsibilities with urgency or handle them carelessly?

The Bible says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Excellence is not only about possessing exceptional abilities; it is also about demonstrating commitment, diligence, and responsibility in ordinary tasks. A poor attitude towards little assignments can disqualify someone from greater opportunities.

Beloved, let your attitude communicate that you are dependable, responsible, and committed. Do not wait to be supervised before doing what is right. People may overlook your excuses, but they will remember your attitude. Your punctuality, responsiveness, and diligence can distinguish you and take you to greater heights.

Prayer Nugget: Father, deliver me from laziness, procrastination, and carelessness. Give me a diligent and enthusiastic spirit, and help me to approach every responsibility with excellence and commitment, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Attitude Determines Altitude (1)

Date: Monday, 2nd November, 2026

Text: Judges 8:1–3; Judges 12:1–6

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Attitude is a major determinant of the quality of our relationships with God and fellow human beings. When Gideon was confronted aggressively by the men of Ephraim, his gentle response calmed their anger and prevented further conflict. However, when Jephthah faced a similar confrontation, his response escalated the disagreement into bloodshed. Judges 8:1–3; Judges 12:1–6

The difference was their attitude! A soft answer can turn away wrath, while an aggressive response can ignite unnecessary conflict (Proverbs 15:1). Marriages, friendships, businesses, and even churches can either thrive or deteriorate because of the attitudes of those involved. Sometimes, it is not the issue itself that destroys a relationship, but how we respond to it.

Your academic qualifications, professional certificates, and technical skills may secure a job, but your attitude can determine whether you retain that job, earn promotion, or build lasting professional relationships. Nobody enjoys working with someone who is arrogant, hostile, disrespectful, or unwilling to learn.

Beloved, never underestimate the power of your attitude. Learn to respond rather than react, listen rather than argue, and correct others without unnecessary hostility. Your attitude can either become a ladder to your next level or an obstacle to your progress. How do you respond when you are provoked?

Prayer Nugget: Father, help me to cultivate a godly attitude towards You and everyone around me. Deliver me from pride, anger, arrogance, and unnecessary confrontations. Let my attitude attract favour, peace, and meaningful relationships, in Jesus’ mighty name.
