The Defender of the Vulnerable

Date: Tuesday, 26th March, 2024

Text: Exodus 22:21-4

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

It is common for the vulnerable in any society to be neglected. In many cases the poor, the orphans, fatherless, widows are even oppressed. Children are easily taken advantage of, so are strangers, asylum seekers and even the sick.

However, God identifies closely with the helpless, the weak and the vulnerable. The word of God says, “Do not remove the ancient landmark, nor enter the fields of the fatherless; for their Redeemer is mighty; He will plead their cause against you.” Proverbs 23:10-11

God is called the defender of widows and the father of the fatherless- Psalm 68:5. He said in his word, “You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.” “You shall neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him…”Exodus 22:22-24; 21a

Employers of labour are commanded by the word of God not to delay their employees’ salaries or wages. Such wages or salaries cry out to God against the employers- James 5:4. Show love to the disadvantaged; don’t curse the deaf (because he cannot hear) nor put a stumbling block before the blind (because he cannot see)- Leviticus 19:14

Children are specially loved by God and they are protected by a special category of angels who work closely with God and even see his face- a privilege not enjoyed by all angels. That shows you that God specially cares for children and any hurt done against them is taken very seriously- Matthew 18:10.

Action Nugget: Show love to all those who seem to be weak, helpless, defenseless or less privileged. And you will be specially blessed by the Lord.

You will Overtake Them All

Text: 1 Samuel 2:1-5

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

In the realm of the overtaking is allowed. The fact that someone has gone ahead of you does not signify that God has forgotten you. Many times we compare our lives with those of others; we complain, “My mates have achieved this, my colleagues have achieved that.” Each person’s timing is different. Just as our faces are different so are our timings.

Peninnah, Elkanah’s second wife got her children before Hannah. It seemed all hopes were lost. Though, she cried to God every year, it seemed her Heaven was closed. When the time came for her to be favoured of God, the Spirit of God inspired her to make a vow that changed her story forever.

Though Peninnah’s children were older in age but nobody knew them as they made no  spiritual impact in the history of Israel. Hannah’s son, Samuel, though came much later, carried a glory that has lasted for all time.

Are you experiencing any delay at the moment, and you have prayed and prayed and it seems nothing is happening? Worry not! God has not forgotten you.

God asked, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me- Isaiah 49:14-16.

Your time is here! Your Samuel will come and you will overtake them all in Jesus name!

Prayer Nugget: Father, I ask for the grace to keep trusting in you until my Samuel comes in Jesus name.

Enlargement By Gratitude

Date: Sunday, 24th March, 2024

Text: 1 Samuel 2:1-10

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

As we have seen in the past few days, Hannah’s prayer was answered as God gave her a son; not just a son but one of the mightiest prophets in the world history. She was not expecting more children as she asked for only one child. However, God tests us with a little to see our attitude before deciding to enlarge our coasts.

The word of God says, “The one who is faithful with little will also be faithful with much; and the one who is dishonest with little will also be dishonest with much”- Luke 16:10.

Out of gratitude, Hannah sacrificed several burnt offerings to thank God for eradicating barrenness from her life. She even dedicated almost a whole chapter singing God’s praise for the miracle of a baby boy. God was pleased with the aroma of her thanksgiving and embarrassed her with an avalanche of multiple babies- five extra babies, totalling six children in all!

Has God blessed you with a little? Are you truly grateful? Instead of complaining and grumbling, why not heartily celebrate God for the little you have and watch God multiply that little? Little becomes much when gratitude comes to play.

Jesus gave thanks for few fishes and loaves of bread, and the Father multiplied that little so much that it fed five thousand men excluding women and children; infact they all ate and were satisfied. At the end they picked up twelve full baskets of the leftover broken pieces- Matthew 14:13-31..

Prophetic Nugget: May the Lord enlarge you on all sides in Jesus name.

Pay Your Vows

Date: Saturday, 23rd March, 2024

Text: Ecclesiastes 5:4-5

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Yesterday, we saw how the Lord looked down from Heaven and had respect unto Hannah’s prayer. God knew that Hannah meant every word in her bargain. So it was that she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, and explained, “I asked the Lord for him” – 1 Samuel 1:20.

After Samuel was weaned she took him to Shiloh and dedicated him to the Lord to serve as priest as long as he lived. Samuel went on to become one of the greatest prophets that ever lived. He was a kingmaker and a king remover. He was a great intercessor in the order of Moses- Jeremiah 15:1.Wherever, he went in Israel, the elders there trembled out of reverence for God. He was a no ordinary child.

Did God leave Hannah desolate? No! God is a merciful God; she was compensated abundantly. The Lord did bless Hannah, and she had three more sons and two daughters. The boy Samuel grew up in the service of the Lord- 1 Samuel 2:21

What do you think would have happened if Hannah refused to pay her vow? Firstly, we may not hear of Samuel as we do today and secondly, God might not compensate and multiply her by giving her more children.

The text today says, “When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed- better not to vow than to vow and not pay.”  Ecclesiastes 5:4-5.

Several people are passing through so many difficulties today because they vowed and they refused to pay it and wondered why their problems come from. Pay your vows today and be free from afflictions in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, I ask for your mercy over every unpaid vows; by your grace I will fulfill them speedily in Jesus name.

Hannah’s Vow

Date: Friday, 22nd March, 2024

Text: 1 Samuel 1:1-20

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

In order to achieve results, sometimes you need to do more than just pray. You may need to prove to God that you are willing to go the extra mile in order to get what you want. What are you willing to part with in order to receive your miracle? What are you willing to sacrifice in order to advance God’s kingdom

Just as you have your personal needs to be met; God’s kingdom also has needs to be met from time to time. Most times we are engrossed in our own needs and are not sensitive to the needs of God’s kingdom on Earth.

In today’s text, we see an obvious vacancy in priesthood at Shiloh. Eli the High Priest was already very old and his two children, Hophni and Phinehas, priests who were meant to continue the priestly dynasty of the family were described as Sons of Belial; scoundrels and wicked men who had no regard for the Lord. By their actions they desecrated God’s temple.

They treated God’s offering with contempt by violently ripping off worshipers of their hard-earned offerings and they slept with temple ushers. Their sins were great in the sight of the Lord and God was seriously planning to eliminate them. The Lord wanted to replace them with a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in his heart and mind.

Barren Hannah sensed the need in God’s house and decided to meet that need. She made up her mind to go beyond just crying and begging God for a child. She chose to change her prayer point by entering into a bargain with the Lord.

Hannah made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” 1 Samuel 1:11.

There may be many barren women in Shiloh at the time, but God heard the prayer of Hannah because her prayer point was unique in that it met God’s need for the hour.

Action Nugget: Are you in dire need of a miracle? Meet kingdom needs through your vow today!

Text: James 5:17-18

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Apart from Enoch, the other person that didn’t taste death was Elijah. His name literally means ‘The Lord is my God”.

Elijah was a man of strong faith who obeyed God without questioning. He was a king installer and dethroner. He was a great mentor, at whose departure, the mentee, Elisha referred to him as, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.” 2 Kings 2:12. He enjoyed the grace of spiritual teleportation- 1 Kings 18:10-12.

God wrought special miracles through the life of Elijah; he multiplied the oil, brought a dead child to life, brought down fire on a hundred enemy soldiers and divided River Jordan.

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. James 5:17-18

He was a mighty prophet during a time majority of Israelites had backslidden and forsaken their God to worship Baal. King Ahab had also formed an alliance with idolatrous Sidon by marrying their princess, Jezebel. Elijah was sent to show Israel the evil of their ways and turn them back to the Lord.

Elijah was sold out to the love and service of Jehovah his God. He had his down times but God sent his angel to strengthen him. When his Special Divine Moment came, he was with his mentee, Elisha in active service of the Lord; there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven- 2 Kings 2:11.

Prayer Nugget: Father, please, help me to remain faithful till the very end in Jesus name.

Text: Genesis 5:21-24

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The word of God recorded two souls who never tasted death. At a point in their lives they experienced very Special Divine Moments which marked their glorious exits from this sinful world.

One of them is Enoch. He fathered the oldest man who ever lived. He walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away- Genesis 5:24.

Concerning him, the word of God says, “By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: He could not be found, because God had taken him away; for before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.” Hebrews 11:5

Enoch was a spokesman for God, a prophet who foretold the second coming of the Lord saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” Jude 14-15

He agreed with the principles of God, loving what God loves and hating what he hates. He obeyed God, one day at a time; until his Special Divine Moment came. He was caught up into Heaven to reign forever with the Lord.

Prayer Nugget: Father, like Enoch, please help me to walk with you faithfully on Earth and reign with you eternally in Jesus name.

Text: Acts 10:1-4

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

There is an encounter you will have that will mark a turning point in your life. Just one touch from the Lord can be a defining moment that would transform your life forever. I pray that you will experience the hand of God this season in Jesus name. But there is always a price to pay. There are certain things that provoke heavenly visitation.

In today’s text, we come across the story of a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.

Even though Cornelius did not yet know the way of God adequately, the little he knew about the Lord, he made maximum use of it. He was a consistent giver of alms to the poor. Apart from that he was a man given to fasting and prayers- Acts 10:30-31.

Note however, that his Special Divine Moment did not come the first day he started giving alms, praying or fasting. He made charitable giving, fasting and prayers a lifestyle. Consistency is the key word.

The word of God says, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith”- Galatians 6:9-10.

At the end of the day, God sent a helper of destiny, Peter to Cornelius to explain the way of God to him more adequately. And himself,  family and neighbours received the power of God because he paid the price of consistency. His sacrifices eventually paid off.

The Lord said, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” Revelation 22:11-12

Prophetic Nugget: Receive grace to pay the price that will provoke your Special Divine Moment in Jesus name.

Special Divine Moments (2)

Text: Acts 2:1-4

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The disciples used to be timid men. They could not even rebuke the wind when the storm came and lacked the faith to cast out devils. Peter, their leader was so fearful that he denied the Lord three times. Thomas was full of doubt. James and John, also known as the sons of thunder, were overzealous- Mark 3;17.

The Lord knew all their weaknesses and limitations and so on one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” “…You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”Acts 1:4-5,8

Take note that the Lord didn’t give any specific date or time when they would receive the power. However, in order not to miss their spiritual moments, they all gathered together in an upper room and they all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication.

Wherever God sees unity and love there he pours his blessing. The word of God says, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” Psalm 133:1-3

When their special moment eventually came, they were all still together with one accord in one place. Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance- Acts 2:1-4.

After this encounter, the lives of the disciples never remained the same. The once timid Peter and other Apostles became bold and they fearlessly preached the world with thousands of souls coming to the Lord. Peter’s shadow healed the sick- Acts 2:41; 5:15.

Prayer Nugget: Father, have mercy on me; may I not miss my Special Divine Moments in Jesus name.

Special Divine Moments

Date: Wednesday, 13th March, 2024

Text: 2 Kings 2:1-13

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

A moment is a very brief period of time; a short time, an instant, within a blink of an eye or split second. Within this very little time, a lot of destinies can be made or marred; events with life-long or even eternal consequences do take place. This calls for carefulness on the part of the believers. is why we must not have any unguarded moments

Special Divine Moments are times of divine encounter when God, according to his timetable and calendar visit man to fulfill His agenda.

According to today’s text, when it was time for Elijah to depart from this Earth, he said to his servant, Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” 2 Kings 2:9b-10.

Elisha was almost distracted but he was very determined. He made sure he shunned everything that wanted to rob him of his focus. He was sensitive enough to see his master, the very split second he was caught up by a whirlwind into the clouds in a chariot of fire and horses of fire. He caught the mantle and got the double portion of Elijah’s anointing- 2 Kings 2:11-13.

Unfortunately, these kinds of moments meet many people unprepared and due to lack of spiritual sensitivity, they miss out of God’s plan and blessings.

Prophetic Nugget: May you not miss your Special Divine Moments in Jesus name.
