Exhortation:

Does it really pay to seek God diligently? Absolutely! Time spent in God’s presence is never wasted; it is a spiritual investment that will produce abundant fruit in our lives. Moses spent quality time in God’s presence, and when he came down from the mountain, his face shone with the glory of God. The more time we spend with God, the more His presence becomes evident in our lives.

Moses also experienced remarkable strength in his old age. At 120 years, his eyes were not dim, nor was his natural strength abated (Deuteronomy 34:7). He heard God clearly, received divine instructions and was guided throughout his assignment. One clear direction from God can save a person from years of fruitless effort. Ecclesiastes 10:10 says, “If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.”

When an axe is blunt, the woodcutter must expend much more strength to bring down a tree. A wise woodcutter, however, takes time to sharpen his axe before cutting. In the same way, many people struggle unnecessarily because they have not spent enough time in God’s presence to receive wisdom, direction and strength.

Time in God’s presence is not lost time; it is preparation for greater effectiveness. Those who wait upon the Lord renew their strength, mount up with wings as eagles, run without becoming weary and walk without fainting. If you tarry in His presence, He will give you the direction, instruction and strength you need to scale great heights.

Prayer Nugget: Father, as I wait upon You, renew my strength, sharpen my spiritual understanding, order my steps and give me clear direction in Jesus’ name.
