Exhortation:
Nothing done for God is a waste. Even what appears small and insignificant in the eyes of men is noticed by God. Jesus said that whoever gives even a cup of cold water in His name will certainly not lose his reward (Matthew 10:42). God does not measure our service merely by its size but by the heart and motive behind it.
There may be seasons when you labour faithfully yet receive little or no recognition or appreciation. You may serve in your own little corner and wonder whether anyone notices your sacrifice. Remember that there is a God in Heaven who sees what men cannot see. Jesus assured His disciples that those who sacrifice for His sake will not lose their reward, but will receive abundantly and inherit eternal life (Matthew 19:27–29).
Therefore, “be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord”, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58). Keep your hands firmly on the plough and do not look back. Even when men forget, God remembers; even when men fail to appreciate you, your faithful service is recorded before Him. He is a Rewarder.
Prayer Nugget: Father, give me grace to remain steadfast and faithful in serving You, even when I am not appreciated or recognised by men. Help me to remember that You see every sacrifice and that my labour in You is never in vain, in Jesus’ name.
