Text: Matthew 5:9
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Jesus declared, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9). To be blessed is to be spiritually calm and to enjoy the deep joy that comes from God’s favour. A peacemaker is not merely someone who avoids conflict but one who actively promotes reconciliation, unity, and harmony wherever God has placed them.
God Himself is the Author of peace, and every believer is called to reflect His character. Christ came to reconcile humanity to God, and He has entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18–19). Whenever we forgive, seek understanding, and pursue peace instead of strife, we demonstrate that we truly belong to our Heavenly Father.
Being a peacemaker requires humility, wisdom, patience, and self-control. It means responding with gentleness instead of anger, choosing forgiveness over revenge, and building bridges where others erect walls. Scripture reminds us, “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:18). Such a life brings honour to God and blessing to those around us.
Make it your daily goal to preserve peace in your home, workplace, church, and community. Let your words heal rather than hurt, your actions unite rather than divide, and your presence bring calm rather than confusion. As you become a maker and maintainer of peace, you will reflect the nature of Christ and be recognised as a true child of God.
Prayer Nugget: Father, make me an instrument of Your peace. Help me to promote love, unity, and reconciliation everywhere I go, so that my life will reflect the character of Christ, in Jesus’ name.
