Exhortation:
The doctrine of eternal security which says, “Once saved, forever saved,” is not of God. The Christian life requires continual vigilance, perseverance, and obedience. The Apostle Paul declared, “I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest… after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:27). If an apostle could exercise such caution, every believer must guard against spiritual complacency.
Paul’s testimony is a solemn reminder that even those who preach the Gospel must remain watchful. Therefore, Scripture commands us to “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith” (2 Corinthians 13:5). We must never assume that yesterday’s victory guarantees tomorrow’s success. “Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12).
Our confidence should never rest in past experiences but in a present, living relationship with Christ. As we walk daily in humility, holiness, and obedience to God’s Word, His grace will keep and preserve us to the very end.
Action Nugget: Take time today to examine your spiritual life honestly before God. Repent of every known sin, renew your commitment to Christ.
