Text: John 6:48–51
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Jesus made one of the most profound declarations in Scripture when He said, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:48). Just as physical bread sustains the body, Christ alone sustains the soul. Many people labour daily for food that perishes, yet neglect the spiritual nourishment that gives eternal life. A relationship with Jesus is not an option for the believer—it is life’s greatest necessity.
The Israelites ate manna in the wilderness, yet they eventually died because the manna could only sustain physical life for a season (John 6:49). Jesus, however, is the true Bread that came down from heaven. Whoever comes to Him in faith receives life that never ends. Only Christ can satisfy the deepest hunger of the human heart and fill the emptiness that nothing else can satisfy.
Feeding on Christ means believing His Word, trusting His promises, obeying His commands, and maintaining daily fellowship with Him. Spiritual strength does not come from occasional encounters with God but from a consistent and growing relationship with Jesus. As we continually feed on Him, our faith is strengthened, our character is transformed, and our lives become fruitful.
Therefore, make Christ your daily Bread. Spend time in His presence, meditate on His Word, and allow His truth to shape your thoughts and actions. Those who continually feed on the Bread of Life will never be spiritually empty but will enjoy the abundant and eternal life that only Christ can give.
Prayer Nugget: Father, make my hunger for Christ greater than my desire for the things of this world. Feed my soul daily with Your Word and let my life be sustained by Your presence, in Jesus’ name.
