Text: John 6:51
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
In today’s text, our Lord Jesus Christ declared, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever” (John 6:51). His mission was not merely to improve earthly life but to offer eternal life to all who believe in Him. Through His sacrificial death, He became the Bread that gives everlasting life to the world.
Eternal life is not something believers begin to enjoy only after death. It begins the moment we receive Christ as Lord and Saviour. It is a new quality of life characterized by fellowship with God, freedom from the power of sin, and the assurance of salvation (John 17:3). Every believer is called to live daily in the reality of this new life.
The cross is the price that made this divine meal available. Christ willingly gave His flesh for the life of the world so that all who believe in Him might never perish. His sacrifice demonstrates the immeasurable love of God and His desire to reconcile humanity to Himself.
We need to, therefore, treasure the gift of eternal life. Live each day with gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice, and let our conduct reflect the new life we have received. Those who possess eternal life should always live with eternity in view.
Prayer Nugget: Father, thank You for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Help me to live each day worthy of this great salvation, in Jesus’ name.
