Text: Isaiah 10:27

Exhortation:
One of the symbols of the Holy Spirit is the oil.
Firstly, oil was used to anoint kings, priests, and prophets for example David was anointed by Samuel to become king- 1 Samuel 16:13. This act symbolized consecration, empowerment, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Today, the Holy Spirit anoints believers for service, making them spiritually equipped and set apart for God’s purposes.
Secondly, just as oil was useful for healing wounds and refreshing the body (Isaiah 1:6, Luke 10:34), the Holy Spirit heals broken hearts, soothes weary souls, and brings spiritual restoration.
Thirdly, in biblical times, oil lamps were used to give light (e.g., Matthew 25:1-13 – the parable of the ten virgins). The Holy Spirit illuminates, gives guidance, and helps believers walk in the light of truth. The scriptures say, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105. It is the Holy Spirit that keeps the lamp of God’s word burning in our hearts.
Spiritual dryness sets in when the oil level is low or absent. A life devoid of the oil will be full of struggles.
Fourthly, anointing gives us deliverance from evil burdens and Satanic yokes- Isaiah 10:27 says, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
Lastly, just as oil is used in worship rituals, the Holy Spirit inspires worship and draws us closer to the Father.
Prayer Nugget: Father, please anointing me afresh with your Spirit for service in Jesus name.
