Text: Mark 16:9; Jeremiah 29:13

Exhortation:
After His glorious resurrection, Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene—the woman from whom He had cast out seven demons (Mark 16:9). This was not preferential treatment, for God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). Rather, it was a response to her love, devotion, and earnest desire to be with Him. While others remained behind, Mary rose early and went to the tomb with spices, determined to honour her Lord even in what she thought was His death.
Throughout Scripture, God responds to those who seek Him earnestly. “Those who seek Me early shall find Me” (Proverbs 8:17), “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13), and “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). God delights in revealing Himself to those who passionately pursue His presence. When you take a step toward Him, He graciously comes near to you.
Zacchaeus demonstrated this same eagerness. Though hindered by his stature and the crowd, he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus (Luke 19:1–10). Before Zacchaeus could call out, Jesus stopped beneath the tree and invited Himself into his home. His sincere hunger for an encounter with Christ attracted divine attention and transformed his life forever. Those who honour God with genuine pursuit will never seek Him in vain.
Many believers long for spiritual encounters, yet they neglect the place of daily devotion, arrive late for worship, or allow worldly distractions to crowd out time with God. We cannot expect extraordinary encounters while giving God ordinary attention. If you truly desire to know Christ more deeply, seek Him diligently, honour Him with your time, and make His presence your highest priority. How eager are you to see Jesus today?
Reflective Nugget: Your pursuit of God determines the depth of your encounter with Him. What practical step will you take today to seek Jesus more earnestly than you did yesterday?
