Exhortation:
When you grow, you retain your height permanently, but when you jump, gravity eventually brings you back to your natural level. That is how life works. Whatever is built through genuine growth is sustainable, while what is gained without preparation is often difficult to maintain. God is interested not only in giving us blessings but in developing the character and capacity to preserve them.
Many fortunes disappear because they are inherited without the wisdom required to sustain them. Stories abound of wealthy families whose children squandered in a few years what took decades to build. Likewise, many thriving businesses collapse after the founder’s death because the next generation inherited the assets but not the discipline, skills, and values that produced them.
This is why the Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6). Our greatest inheritance is not merely money or property but godly character, wisdom, diligence, and the ability to build. Teach your children how to fish, not merely hand them fish to eat. A trained life can rebuild what is lost, but an untrained life may lose what was freely given.
Action Nugget: Invest today in growing your character, skills, and spiritual life. If you are a parent or mentor, deliberately teach the next generation the values and disciplines that sustain lasting success.
