Exhortation:
The tongue is a major tool God has given us to magnify Him and bless His holy name. Through the tongue, we declare His glory, testify of His goodness, and offer the fruit of our lips as praise. The psalmist says, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1). Therefore, let your tongue continually speak words that honour God, regardless of what you may be going through.
Rather than using our tongues to tale-bear, slander, curse, gossip, or meddle in the affairs of others, let us use it to magnify the Lord above our challenges and circumstances. Paul and Silas understood this principle when they prayed and sang praises to God at midnight while they were in prison. They refused to allow their difficult situation to determine the content of their conversation; instead, they filled the prison with praises unto God.
As they praised God, there was suddenly a great earthquake, the prison doors were opened, and everyone’s chains were loosed (Acts 16:25–26). What appeared to be a place of confinement became a place of supernatural freedom because their praise invited divine intervention.
Keep magnifying the Lord, even in the midst of your challenges, and as you use your tongue wisely, may every prison door, chain, and limitation standing against you crash down before your very eyes, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Nugget: Father, help me to use my tongue wisely. Let my mouth continually magnify You, even in the midst of challenges. As I praise You, let every prison door, chain, and limitation in my life be broken, in Jesus’ name.
