Text: Jeremiah 17:9; 2 Corinthians 5:7
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Feelings are not always reliable. Like the weather, they are temporary, changeable, and can easily be influenced by our circumstances, the flesh, and manipulated by the enemy.but the word of God remains constant and unchanging forever. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
The Bible warns that “the heart is deceitful above all things” (Jeremiah 17:9). Therefore, God’s Word—not our emotions—must remain the believer’s final authority and sure standard for living.
The Christian life is governed by faith, not by feelings. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). If you wait until you feel like praying, fasting, studying the Scriptures, or serving God, you may never become spiritually mature. Likewise, those who constantly yield to the urge to sleep, procrastinate, or seek comfort will struggle to achieve excellence and fulfil their God-given purpose.
Unchecked emotions can also lead to serious consequences. Anger can destroy relationships, fear can hinder progress, and discouragement can rob you of your confidence in God. A mature believer learns to submit every emotion to the control of the Holy Spirit and to make decisions based on God’s truth rather than temporary feelings.
Prayer Nugget: Father, help me to live by Your Word and not by my feelings. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and strengthen my faith, in Jesus’ name.
