Text: Luke 22:31–32; Matthew 16:18

Exhortation:

Simon Peter was a man of extremes. One moment he walked on water by faith, and the next he began to sink through fear. He received Christ’s commendation for divine revelation, yet shortly afterwards was rebuked for thinking according to the flesh.

The enemy recognized Peter’s instability and sought to take advantage of it. But Jesus declared, “I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not” (Luke 22:32). Though Peter stumbled, his humble and contrite heart kept drawing him back to the Lord, and God never rejected him.

Jesus looked beyond Peter’s weaknesses and called him Peter, meaning Rock. He named him according to his divine destiny rather than his present condition. By God’s grace, the unstable fisherman became a bold apostle and a pillar of the early Church.

Perhaps, like Peter, you have experienced moments of inconsistency, failure, or discouragement. Do not give up on yourself, because God has not given up on you. As you submit to Christ and allow Him to shape your character, He will strengthen your faith, establish your walk, and fulfil His purpose for your life. The God who transformed Simon into Peter is still transforming lives today.

Yield your life completely to Christ, and He will establish you, strengthen your faith, and fulfil His purpose for your life.

Prayer Nugget: Father, transform every area of instability in my life into strength and steadfastness. Let my faith never fail, and make me all You have ordained me to be, in Jesus’ name.
