Planted By the Rivers

Text : Jeremiah 17:5–8

Author : Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation :

A tree planted by the riverside remains green in every season because it has a constant source of nourishment. It does not depend on rainfall alone; its roots draw directly from the river. In the same way, a life rooted in God remains stable, fruitful, and sustained regardless of changing circumstances.

The Bible warns against putting trust in man or relying solely on human strength. Those who do so are likened to a dry shrub in the desert—isolated, unfruitful, and unable to recognize when good comes (Jeremiah 17:5–6). Human systems may fail, but God never does.

When your trust is firmly anchored in God, your life becomes like that well-watered tree. Even in times of heat, pressure, or drought, you will not wither. Your confidence is not in circumstances but in God’s unchanging nature (Psalm 1:3).

Make a conscious decision to root your life in God daily—through His Word, prayer, and obedience. As you remain connected to Him, you will flourish in every season and continually bear fruit. Your stability and fruitfulness will become a testimony of God’s sustaining power.

Prayer Nugget : Father, help me to trust fully in You; plant me by Your living waters so that I may remain fruitful and steadfast in every season, in Jesus’ name.

Bible in One Year : Nehemiah 1–3
