Exhortation:

It is possible for servants to ride on horses while princes walk on the ground like servants-Ecclesiastes 10:7. This can happen if the prince is ignorant of or refuse to exercise his rights and fulfill his responsibilities.

As a son and daughter of God with rights you have obligations, duties or responsibilities towards him and humanity. One of the responsibilities attached to your rights is obedience.

The word of God says, “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth; And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.” Deuteronomy 28:1-2

Prosperity is your right as a believer in Christ but it comes with responsibilities. In Psalm 112:3, the scripture says, “Wealth and riches shall be in the house of the righteous but there is a responsibility identified in the 9th verse of the same chapter. It says, “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor.”

Again the word of God confirms “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:24-25

Hard work is essential but you can be both hardworking and holy and still be poor if you don’t learn to give. Lazarus was a holy beggar not a giver and he died in poverty- Luke 16:19-24. Though he made it to Heaven but on Earth he passed through poverty-inflicted suffering. If you must break the chains of poverty, giving must be your lifestyle.

Reflective Nugget:  If you must break the chains of poverty, giving must be your lifestyle.
