Exhortation:
Human society often assumes that the majority must be right. Some even say that the opinion of the majority is God’s opinion. But Scripture teaches otherwise. God warns, “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil” (Exodus 23:2). What is celebrated by men is not always approved by God, and what is popular can sometimes be detestable in His sight.
The days of Noah prove this truth. The whole world had turned away from God, yet only eight people were found righteous and were preserved through the flood (1 Peter 3:20). Likewise, in Sodom and Gomorrah, only Lot and his family were delivered while the cities perished. God’s standard has never been determined by the crowd but by His unchanging Word.
Jesus declared that “wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction… and many there be which go in thereat” while “narrow is the way… which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:13–14). Do not measure truth by popularity. The world and its desires are passing away, but those who remain faithful to God’s Word—even if they stand in the minority—will inherit everlasting life.
Prayer Nugget: Father, give me the courage to stand for Your truth even when I stand alone. Help me never to follow the crowd into error, but to remain faithful to Your Word until the end, in Jesus’ name.
