Exhortation:
The night is naturally a time of rest, but throughout Scripture it also became a time when God gave His people strategic victories. While others slept, men of faith remained spiritually alert. The believer must never become careless in the place of prayer, for many battles are won before the dawn breaks.
When Lot and his family were taken captive, Abraham armed his 318 trained servants and pursued the enemy. “He divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night” (Genesis 14:15), defeated the stronger forces, and recovered everything that had been stolen.
Likewise, when the Amalekites raided Ziklag, carried away David’s wives, children, and possessions, and burned the city with fire, David first encouraged himself in the Lord, sought God’s direction, and then pursued the enemy. From the twilight attack until the next day, God gave him victory, and David recovered all (1 Samuel 30:17–19).
Have you lost anything to the raiders of darkness—your peace, joy, opportunities, health, or spiritual fire? Stop weeping endlessly and begin to seek God with renewed faith. As the Lord told David, “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all” (1 Samuel 30:8). Your God still gives victory, and He is able to restore everything the enemy thought was permanently lost.
Prayer Nugget: Father, strengthen me to prevail in the place of prayer. Every good thing stolen by the enemy, let me pursue, overtake, and recover all through the victory of Christ, in Jesus’ name.
