Text: Romans 1:16

Exhortation:

In order to win souls and enlarge God’s Kingdom, we need the tongue as a tool for preaching the Gospel. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” God has entrusted us with the responsibility of making Christ known, and our tongue is one of the primary instruments He uses to accomplish this.

A word spoken in faith can introduce someone to the saving power of Jesus Christ. We must therefore refuse to use our tongues only for complaints, criticism, gossip, or discouragement when there are lives around us that need to hear the Gospel. Proverbs 11:30 says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” A wise tongue is a soul-winning tongue.

Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” We cannot fulfil this command without opening our mouths to speak about Christ. Ask God to sanctify your tongue and make it a vessel of salvation, encouragement and truth. Let your words point people to Jesus, because one conversation, one testimony, or one invitation may become the turning point in someone’s life.

Key Nugget: A wise tongue is a soul-winning tongue.
