Text: Revelation 2:20–23
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Working out your salvation requires spiritual discernment. Jesus warned, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves” (Matthew 7:15). Not everyone who claims to speak for God has been sent by Him. Every teaching and doctrine must be tested against the truth of God’s Word.
The church in Thyatira tolerated Jezebel, a woman who called herself a prophetess. Through her false teaching, she seduced God’s servants into sexual immorality and idolatry (Revelation 2:20–23). Although God gave her time to repent, she refused. Consequently, divine judgment came upon her and all who knowingly followed her sinful ways.
False doctrine is dangerous because it subtly widens the narrow way that leads to life and makes sin appear acceptable. Be careful of teachings that excuse disobedience, water down holiness, or promote worldly compromise in the name of grace. A genuine servant of God will always point people to Christ, holiness, repentance, and obedience to the Scriptures.
Prayer Nugget: Father, grant me the spirit of discernment to recognize and reject every false doctrine and deceptive teaching in Jesus’ name.
Bible in One Year: Isaiah 35–37
