What Will You Be Remembered For?

Text : Acts 9:36–42

Author : Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation :

Sometimes, life teaches us deep lessons through simple experiences. Years ago, on a rainy day, my wife slipped and fell in front of a stranger’s house. Without knowing us, a kind woman came out, showed compassion, and helped her clean up. That simple act of kindness left a lasting impression on us.

About a year later, we passed by the same house and saw her obituary. Though she was gone, what remained with us was not her possessions or status, but her kindness. Even years after, that memory still speaks. It reminds us that the true value of life is not in what we acquire, but in the lives we touch (Proverbs 11:17).

In today’s text, Dorcas was remembered not for beauty or wealth, but for her good works and care for the needy. Her impact was so great that people wept and testified of her kindness. In contrast, the rich man in Luke 16 had wealth but no positive impact, and his end was tragic (Luke 16:19–25).

What you achieve has no eternal value until it impacts others and advances God’s kingdom. Live intentionally, give generously, and serve selflessly. Let your life be remembered for love, compassion, and godly influence (Matthew 5:16).

Action Nugget : Do at least one intentional act of kindness today that will positively impact someone’s life and reflect Christ.

Bible in One Year : Job 21–24
