Called to the Banquet

Date: Tuesday, 17th March, 2026

Text: Matthew 22:1–14

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Jesus, in the Parable of the Wedding Banquet, reveals God’s heart as He invites many to partake in His prepared feast. Yet those first invited made excuses and refused to come, showing how easily people neglect divine invitations. Scripture reminds us, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33).

The King then opened the invitation to all, bringing in people from the streets—both good and bad. This shows that God’s call to salvation is available to everyone, regardless of background. As it is written, “whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17).

However, one man was found without a wedding garment and was cast out, revealing that acceptance requires transformation. It is not enough to be invited; one must be clothed in righteousness and prepared for the King. God desires not just attendance, but a changed life.

Beloved, many are called, but few are chosen. Respond to God’s invitation with a sincere heart and a transformed life. Remain ready, for the banquet is prepared for those who are clothed in Christ.

Prayer Nugget: Father, help me to respond rightly to your call, clothe me with righteousness and make me worthy of your kingdom in Jesus name.
