Text: James 4:6
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Humility is a powerful kingdom principle that attracts grace and divine lifting. Scripture clearly states that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Pride pushes God away, but humility invites His help, favour, and intervention into our lives.
A humble heart remains teachable, submissive, and fully dependent on God. Pride often blinds people to correction and leads to downfall, for “Pride goeth before destruction” (Proverbs 16:18). Humility, on the other hand, keeps the heart open to learning and growth.
Jesus Christ is our perfect example of humility. Though He was divine, He chose obedience over self-glory and submitted Himself to the will of the Father (Philippians 2:5–8). Through humility, Jesus was exalted, showing us that lowering ourselves before God leads to honour.
As you journey through this year, walk humbly with your God in every area of life. Submit your plans, successes, and challenges to Him, trusting that He will exalt you at the right time (1 Peter 5:6). When humility becomes your lifestyle, God takes responsibility for your lifting.
Prayer Nugget: Father, please clothe me with humility and keep my heart aligned with yours, in Jesus’ name.
Bible in One Year: Exodus 17-20
