Guarding Your Heart

Text: Proverbs 4:23

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The heart is the control centre of life, influencing thoughts, decisions, and actions. Scripture instructs us to guard our hearts diligently because out of it flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Whatever gains access to the heart eventually shapes the direction and outcome of our lives.

Unresolved hurts, offences, and negative emotions can quietly contaminate destiny if they are ignored. God desires a heart that is pure, focused, and free from hidden burdens, for “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). A clean heart keeps our spiritual vision clear.

A guarded heart resists bitterness, fear, pride, and anxiety. When the heart is disciplined and surrendered to God, peace becomes its natural atmosphere. The peace of God is meant to rule and govern our hearts, preserving us from internal turmoil (Colossians 3:15).

As you walk through this year, make it a priority to protect your heart with truth, prayer, and the Word of God. Ask the Lord to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you (Psalm 51:10). Your future, peace, and progress depend on the condition of your heart.

Reflective Nugget: Ask yourself, “What attitudes or emotions do I need to let go in order to preserve my heart?”

Bible in One Year: Genesis 44-46
