Exhortation:
The fourth ingredient in the spiritual wrestling series is Submission — the act of yielding completely to God’s authority and will.
In spiritual warfare, victory begins with surrender. Many try to resist the devil without first submitting to God, and they wonder why the battle feels unending. The order in James 4:7 is divine: Submit to God first, then resist the devil. Submission empowers resistance; rebellion weakens it.
True submission is not weakness — it is alignment. When you come under God’s authority, His power flows through you. Our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated perfect submission in Luke 22:42 when he prayed saying, “Father, if Thou be willing, remove this cup from Me: nevertheless not My will, but Thine, be done.”
That moment of surrender became the turning point for humanity’s redemption.
Submission means saying, “Yes, Lord,” even when your flesh wants to say no. It is trusting God’s wisdom above your understanding. It is laying down your agenda so that His purpose can prevail.
1 Peter 5:6 reinforces this truth: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” When you submit, God lifts you. When you yield, He shields you. When you surrender, He empowers you to overcome.
