Text: Daniel 6:1-24

Exhortation:
Both the prey and predator are created by God and they are meant to live out their days under the care of the Most High. Their unique nature and feeding patterns, namely carnivorous (flesh eater) and herbivorous (herb eater) were designed by God.
The predator and prey wake up every morning seeking for how to survive. For example, the lion looks up to God daily for its food; so does the deer. Whose prayer will God answer? Is it the prayer of the prey or that of the predator?
I once put this question to my children and I got different answers. The hawk hovers up in the sky looking for chicks to feed on. However, a chick that refuses to heed the warnings of the mother hen will surely be food for the hawk.
So a disobedient or rebellious prey will likely be an answer to the prayer of the predator. Look at the case of Daniel in the lion’s den. The lions, though hungry, could not consume him because god sent his angels and they shut the mouth of the lions. Why? The bible says, innocence was found in Daniel.
But God was still committed to answering the prayers of the hungry lions. So he fed the cats with the flesh of the men who had falsely accused Daniel. They were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones- Daniel 6:24.
So in the sovereignty of God, he feeds both the predator and the prey.
Reflective Nugget: Those who choose to tow the path of obedience like Daniel will be delivered from the den of the lions.
