Exhortation:

Jesus already predicted that the unbelieving world will not naturally accept the Holy Spirit. Do you know why? The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Truth; but unfortunately the world hates the truth. The truth is light but men love darkness rather than light because their secret deeds which are evil.

The word of God says, “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” John 3:19-21.

However, there is hope for the unbeliever who allows himself to be convicted by the Holy Spirit. Naturally, an unconvicted sinner does not see anything wrong with his way of life. Everything he does seems right to him, so he sees no need to repent. This is where the Holy Spirit comes in.

The Spirit specializes in convicting the unbelieving world about the guilt of sin and the need for a Savior; and about the need for righteousness, and about the certainty of judgment: John 16:8-11.

When the undiluted word of God is spoken, the Holy Spirit works through it and makes it operate sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating to dividing of the soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart of a sinner, bringing about deep cut of conviction- repentance is the result.- Hebrews 4:12.

Salvation from sin is not possible without repentance.

Action Nugget: Open up your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to do his convicting work in your life that you might be saved.
