Text: Mark 4:35–41
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
God remains God when the weather of life is fair and when it becomes turbulent. As children of the Most High, our response to storms matters. When the storms of life rage, we must refuse to entertain fear or doubt but remain steadfast in faith, knowing that our God is greater than every challenge we face.
Our God rules over raging storms. Psalm 89:9 (KJV) declares, “Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.” Psalm 107:29 also says, “He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.” The same God who calms the storms of nature is able to bring peace into the storms of our lives. No situation is beyond His sovereign authority.
In Mark 4:37–39, Jesus and His disciples encountered a violent storm on the Sea of Galilee. While the disciples panicked, Jesus arose and rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm. This teaches us that the presence of a storm does not mean the absence of God. Even when He appears silent, we must trust His power and remain confident in His presence.
God promises in Isaiah 43:2, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.” Notice that He says when, not if. Storms may come, but they do not have the final say over our lives. Whether the storm is financial, marital, spiritual, or emotional, keep your faith alive. The storm may be fierce, but our God is greater!
Key Nugget: The presence of a storm does not mean the absence of God. Even when He appears silent, we must trust His power and remain confident in His presence.
