Text: Ephesians 5:14–15
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Stay awake spiritually. The Christian life requires constant vigilance because we are engaged in a spiritual battle. Scripture warns us, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
We must remain conscious of spiritual realities, remembering that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood” (Ephesians 6:12) and refusing to be ignorant of the devices of the enemy (2 Corinthians 2:11).
Stay occupied for God and shun spiritual idleness. Stay informed through the Word of God, stay sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and stay spiritually alert through prayer and fasting.
Ephesians 5:15–16 instructs us to walk carefully and redeem the time because the days are evil. A believer who stops watching can easily become careless, distracted, and vulnerable to temptation.
Reflective Nugget: Ask yourself, “Am I spiritually awake, or have distraction, idleness, and worldly pursuits made me careless?” Today, return to the Word, strengthen your prayer life, remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and stay actively engaged in the things of God.
