Text: John 15:19
Exhortation:
Jesus declared that His followers are not of the world even though they live in it. Because believers belong to Christ, their lives and values become different. This distinction often attracts opposition.
The world system naturally resists righteousness, truth, and godliness. When a believer chooses holiness over compromise, light over darkness, and truth over falsehood, friction may arise. This is part of the cost of true discipleship.
Jesus said plainly, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world… therefore the world hateth you” (John 15:19). Such rejection should not surprise the believer; rather, it confirms our identity as those chosen out of the world.
The apostles experienced this reality when they boldly preached the gospel. Yet instead of despairing, they rejoiced that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name of Christ (Acts 5:41). Their tribulation became a testimony of unwavering faith.
Therefore, do not be discouraged when standing for Christ brings resistance. The same Lord who called you will strengthen and sustain you. Remain steadfast, for those who endure with Him will also reign with Him (2 Timothy 2:12).
Prayer Nugget: Father, pleas, grant me the grace to remain faithful even in the midst of opposition in Jesus name.
