Text: John 3:19-21
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
When your person or idea is not accepted, you have tasted what it means to be rejected. Rejection is more painful if it is coming from your family or loved ones. However, the fact that you or your idea was rejected does not make you or your idea evil.
If you understand today’s text, you will have a clearer understanding of rejection and know how to handle it.
The word of God says, “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God- John 3:19-21
Darkness can reject light out of the fear of being discovered and judged. The rejection does not make the light bad. Instinctively, when a man in darkness suddenly finds himself exposed to a bright light, he would quickly want to cover his face, rejecting the sudden beam of light. It doesn’t make the light evil. So stop taking your rejections to heart.
Our Lord Jesus Christ was a man familiar with rejection. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces, he was despised, and he was held in low esteem- Isaiah 53:3.
When you are rejected by men, don’t let it discourage or demoralize you and don’t lose your focus. If you are under the lordship of Jesus Christ, you too will overcome as Christ overcome in Jesus name.
Key Nugget: The fact that you or your idea was rejected does not make you or your idea evil. Don’t take it to heart.
