Exhortation:
Holiness is the nature of God and of his Spirit. This is why the Spirit Of God is referred to as the Holy Spirit. So many people see holiness as unattainable. But that is not true. To be holy is to live in total obedience to the Word Of God.
When we live our lives one day at a time, obeying the word of God in any decision we make, every step of the way, we will discover that we are already living holy. If holiness is not possible, God will not say, “Be ye holy for I am holy” 1 Peter 1:16. They say, like father, like son- In other words God is saying , “a lion gives birth to a lion; not a dog; if you are truly my son, then holiness should also be your nature or lifestyle.”
In fact, that is why holiness is a requirement to make it to heaven- without holiness no man shall see the Lord – Hebrews 12:14
The word of God also says, “ Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:27
It is, however, true that we cannot be holy by our own power or strength but we sure can be holy when we submit ourselves to the management of the Holy Spirit. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to live above sin. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to break free from the stronghold of sin and the flesh.
Do you see any wisdom in gaining the whole whole world, enjoying the pleasures of sin for a while and then spending eternity in everlasting torment? It is in deed wise to be holy.
