Text: Luke 23:42–43
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
No matter how deep you have gone into sin, you are not completely lost as long as you are still alive. The door of salvation is still open to you. Jesus said, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:32. He has come to save someone like you who is lost.
The doctor is not for the healthy, but for the sick. Come as you are, with your spiritual sickness and deficiencies. But be ready to forsake your old ways and fully follow the divine prescriptions of the Great Physician. His invitation is personal and direct. He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Make the move of faith today—just like the thief on the cross. He had most likely lived a rough life of violence and armed robbery, yet he made a move that changed his eternal destiny. He said, “And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” And Jesus answered him, “Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:42–43)
Don’t yield to the lies of the devil, who tries to make you believe that you have gone too far into sin to be redeemed. As the hymn beautifully declares: “The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.”
Your move matters. Take that step of faith today—turn from sin, embrace Jesus, and claim the eternal life He freely offers.
Prayer Nugget: Father, I thank you for seeking the lost, for your arms are open wide to receive me just as I am. I confess my sins, all my failures, and my shortcomings, and I turn away from them today in Jesus name.
