Text: Psalm 127:3-5
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
I once heard a testimony shared by the renowned Christian Musician, Composer and Pianist, Don Moen. He said when he was a child, the mother used to force him to take piano lessons. He never liked any part of it. When other children in the neighborhood were playing away their time, the mum scheduled him for music classes. As at that time, he didn’t find it funny, but he had no option than to comply.
He had to take piano lessons thirty minutes everyday for six years! His mum would say, “Donny, you wear the clothes we provide for you, you sleep in the bed we provide for you, you eat the food we provide for you, YOU WILL PLAY THE PIANO!”
He went ahead to become a household name all over the world being famous for his classic and inspirational Christian music. By the time he was sharing his testimony, he said, he wondered what he would be doing now if he didn’t know how to play the piano; he wished his mother had compelled him to study music harder.
As parents we need to study our children and know their areas of strengths. Prayerfully help them to develop their hidden talents and potentials. Deliberately create time for them; get involved in all their activities; carefully observe and probe to know what is going on in their lives in and out. Help them to set achievable goals and supervise them in ensuring success.
When you thus shoot your arrows in specific divinely led directions, then it will be said of you that “Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” Psalm 127:5
Prophetic Nugget: Over your children, may you find great joy and fulfillment in Jesus name.
