Exhortation:

Most times when you desire to get God’s attention you need to show some eagerness. To be eager is to show some enthusiasm, keenness or fervor to do or to have something.

In today’s text, Zaccheaus, the wealthy chief tax collector heard that Jesus was coming towards his area of Jericho. Having heard about the mighty works wrought by Christ, he wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly- Luke 19:1-9.

Despite his tight schedule, the Lord suspended every other assignment and stayed in his house. It must have been a pleasant surprise to Zacchaeus that Jesus could find him worthy of a visit. That day salvation came into his life and he became a candidate of Heaven. Just because of this attitude of eagerness to see the Lord, up till today his story is still being told all over the world.

Are you desirous of a divine encounter with the Lord Jesus? Then you need to demonstrate eagerness. How prompt do you attend to the things of God? How cheerful and enthusiastic are you when it comes to the things about God’s kingdom? How much are you willing to sacrifice in order to get divine attention? To what length can you go just to get a divine encounter?

There is a saying by the elders that a child that must be carried by his mother must readily stretch out his arms in eagerness.  May you not miss your day of divine visitation in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, pour your fire on my life and destroy every power of apathy, indifference, lackadaisical attitude and lukewarmness in my life Jesus name.
