Text: Acts 24:24-27
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Procrastination is the act of delaying what should be done now, with the hope of doing it later. The Bible consistently warns against idleness, sloth, and postponing obedience. Time is a gift from God, and wasting it through procrastination can lead to missed opportunities, unfulfilled destinies, and even disobedience to God’s will.
It is one of the subtle weapons the enemy uses to hinder progress and obedience. It tells us there will always be time tomorrow, but tomorrow is not promised. Opportunities are often time-bound, and when we delay, we risk losing what God has prepared for us.
Felix, the Roman governor, listened to Paul preach the gospel but delayed his decision, saying, “Go away for now. When I have a convenient time I will call for you” (Acts 24:25). Sadly, that convenient time never came. Many destinies remain unfulfilled because of the habit of postponing what should be done today.
When we procrastinate, we miss opportunities God brings our way (Proverbs 10:5); we delay obedience and fall into sin (James 4:17); we open the door to stress and stagnation (Ecclesiastes 11:4) and we risk becoming spiritually lukewarm (Hebrews 3:15).
God calls us to redeem the time, for the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16). The best time to act, to obey, to pray, and to serve is now.
Prayer Nugget: Father, give me the grace to obey you promptly without hesitation in Jesus name.
