By Their Fruits

Date: Monday, 25th November, 2024

Text: Matthew 7:15-16.

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

One of the very signs of the Last Days is the proliferation of false prophets. In Matthew 24:4, Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.” In verse 11 of the same chapter, the Lord said, “Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.”

We must beware of false prophets, who come in sheep’s clothing, appearing gentle and innocent but inwardly are ravenous wolves. The word of God says, we will know them by their fruits (character)- Matthew 7:15-16.

Any so called Man Of God whose personal private life contradicts the word of God is false. Anyone who says, “Do as I say but not as I do” is not genuine. Any prophet who is not Christ like in character or who does not reflect the holiness of Christ is false.  Anyone who demonstrates the gifts but not the fruit of the Holy Spirit is false.

The false prophets have gained so much ground because they ‘prophesy’ and say things that people love to hear. For example, many church goers love to go to religious places where someone will see visions for them.

We are in the time when people do not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction that challenges them with God’s truth; rather they want to have their ears tickled with something pleasing. Therefore, they have accumulated for themselves many teachers one after another, chosen to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold. They turn their ears away from the truth wander off into myths and man-made fictions-2 Timothy 4:3-4.

Many souls today have become victims of false prophets.

I once came across a man that decided to stop going to church. He abandoned the church for thirteen (13) years being a victim of false prophets. But God showed him mercy. He encountered the Lord personally and God directed him back to the church- this time he was sent to a church where he would hear sound doctrine.

Action Nugget: Don’t be caught in the web of false prophets.

Not An Author Of Confusion

Date: Sunday, 24th November, 2024

Text: Genesis 1:1-3

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

If you carefully study the creation story in Genesis 1, you will observe that indeed God is highly organized. In the beginning when the Lord saw that the Earth was without form, and void; darkness being upon the face of the deep, the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And the first thing that God did was to cast out darkness.

He said, “Let there be light: and there was light.” And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. Genesis 1:2-3; John 1:5

I pray for you that everything representing darkness in your life will bow to the light of God in Jesus name.

Darkness is synonymous to chaos, confusion and disorderliness. He created the plants before the animals and the animals before man. Why? This is because the animals need plants to survive and man needs both plants and animals for survival. You would notice that God’s creation plan was well thought out devoid of any iota of confusion.

Again the fact that God operates in times and seasons shows that he respects order and timing. He makes everything beautiful in its time- Ecclesiastes 3:11.

Everything causing confusion in your life will receive the touch of God and every puzzling situation in your life will be resolved by the Spirit of the Living God in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, let every chaotic situation in my life give way to divine orderliness in Jesus name

Symptoms of Spiritual Burnout

Date: Saturday, 23rd November, 2024

Text: Isaiah 40:29-31

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

One of the symptoms or signs of spiritual burnout is loss of joy. You would discover that your prayers and service of God that used to be spontaneous before becomes ‘mechanical’. Loss of joy results to lack of enthusiasm. The inner spiritual motivation is gone and you discover that you begin to struggle to fulfill your basic spiritual obligations. Before you know it you will find yourself failing and giving excuses.

Another sign that you are passing through a season of spiritual burnout is that you find yourself getting easily discouraged. Little things get you complaining. Frustration and depression may set in if nothing is done to refuel your spiritual tank.

In Hebrews 13:5, God has promised never to leave you nor forsake you. However, if you always feel disconnected from God and abandoned by him, you are already experiencing a burnout.

Disinterest in the things of God; apathy in spiritual activities like personal and corporate bible study, fasting, prayer, evangelism etc are other signs of burnout.

When you begin to doubt your previously firm spiritual convictions and you become critical in your spirit finding fault in your spiritual leaders; looking for loopholes in the doctrines of the Word Of God; you need to retrace your steps and go back to your first love.

The Holy Scriptures say, “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31

Are you caught in the web of spiritual burnout? It’s not the end of the journey. Just go back to Jesus your source of spiritual strength and wait on him. And as you wait on him he will renew your spiritual strength and restore your joy in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, please grant me speedy spiritual recovery and a deeper relationship with you like never before in Jesus name.

Avoid Burnout

Date: Friday, 22nd November, 2024

Text: Luke 5:12-16

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

When you are descending a flight of stairs you don’t need much energy just like descending into sin doesn’t require any much effort. However, ascending a staircase is more energy demanding

Similarly, doing God’s will is an uphill task and it requires the spiritual energy otherwise called the oil of grace.

In today’s world, so many that used to be on fire for God have suffered from burn outs. When you are so soaked in activities and do not form the habit of withdrawing to the secret place of prayer; burn out is inevitable.

When you are busy for God, you are like a battery that is being used. Virtues go out of you and you need to recharge your spiritual batteries from time to time. This gives you the opportunity to refresh and reinvigorate in God’s presence so as to carry fresh oil.

Just like you charge your phones from time to time you need to recharge and refuel your spiritual tanks from time to time. Fresh oil from the Lord gives you fresh grace and fresh revelations for the assignment. It is then your spiritual lamps can keep burning.

Men of faith don’t joke with their secret place of prayer. That is where strength comes from- strength to resist temptations and do the will of God.

During his earthly ministry, despite his very tight and busy schedule, the word of God says, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” Luke 5:16

Avoid burnout and recharge your spiritual batteries by spending quality time worshipping the Lord, studying the word of God, praying in tongues and in understanding on a regular basis.

Action Nugget: Charge your spiritual batteries regularly.

Text: Psalm 42:1-2

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

When you love someone you would love to spend as much time as possible with such a fellow. you won’t mind travelling thousands of miles just to be with that person. Even if you have to spend much money in order to be with such a person you won’t see it as any barrier.

Jacob served his uncle Laban for seven years to get his daughter, Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her- Genesis 29:20.

David was a typical lover of God. He said, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42:1-2

He was the one that discovered that in the presence God is fullness of joy; and that at his right hand, pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11b

Mathematically speaking, we can safely conclude that time spent in God’s presence is directly proportional to the love of God. The more you love God the more time you want to spend in his presence; and the less you love God the less time you want to spend in his presence.

Many people claim to love God but their actions deny it. They find it difficult to spend quality time in God’s presence. They will come late to church and after spending thirty minutes, they are already bored and yawning. You see them looking at their wrist watches or playing with their phones.

When you find every other place interesting and God’s presence boring it shows you lack the Holy Spirit Of God and are rather filled with the spirit of worldliness. Such a person will be spiritually dry, not able to benefit from the joy, peace and pleasures available free of charge in the presence of his majesty.

Prophetic Nugget: May you be filled with the Holy Spirit so that you can enjoy the full package available free of charge in the presence of God in Jesus name.

Direct Proportionalities

Text: John 1:14

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

In Basic Mathematics, just as we have the inverse proportionalities we also have the direct. When two things are related together in a directly proportional manner, it means when one increases, the other increases too.

As we approach the New Year many people are already planning their new resolutions. But wait a minute, they also had resolutions for the old year but could not live up to them especially in the area of holiness and righteousness.

The truth is no one can successfully live holy without the help of the Holy One. A lifestyle of holiness will remain a mirage; an impossible feat without the grace of God.

Christ lived without sin because his life was full of grace and truth. John 1:14 states, “The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth”

There is a direct relationship between grace and glory; grace enhances holy living and thus produces glory; the more the grace, the greater the glory. If we must radiate the beauty of His Majesty then we must seek his grace and seek it abundantly.

The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul wrote, “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age. Titus 2:11 (NKJV)

Prayer Nugget: Father, I open up my heart to you, please, fill my life with your grace in Jesus name.

Text: Romans 3:23

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Another inverse proportionality we would look at today is the relationship between sin and glory. Sin is disobedience to the will of God while glory is characteristic of the presence of God. The word of God in Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

The angels of God carry a great weight of God’s glory because they live in obedience. They shine and reflect the beauty of God’s majesty because they live in holiness- Psalm 103:20.

Those of them that could not continue in obedience lost their positions of glory and honour and were cast down to the Earth awaiting God’s final judgment. Revelation 12:9; Jude 1:6

Adam and Eve lost their glory and they became naked. Shame took over them and they began to hide. Eventually they were cursed and cast out of paradise- Genesis 3.

Sin is inversely proportional to glory and vice versa. You want God’s glory? Quit a lifestyle of sin.

The Word of God says, “Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 2:14; John 11:40.

The King of Glory has called us to share in his glory through the Gospel of Christ. Respond to his call today, repent from all sins and become a candidate of his glory.

Key Nugget: You want God’s glory? Quit a lifestyle of sin.

Inverse Proportionalities

Text: Matthew 14:23-31

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

In basic Mathematics when two things are related together in an inversely proportional manner, it means when one increases, the other decreases; and vice versa.

A very good example is when you look at the relationship between time and speed you would notice that when if you are driving and you decide to increase your speed, the time it will take you to arrive at your destination will reduce. Conversely, when you reduce your speed the time taken to reach your destination will increase.

In today’s text, Peter was initially fearful when he saw a “ghost” walking on the water. But when he heard the voice of Jesus he realized it wasn’t a ghost but Christ himself; his faith was boosted and fear lost its hold.

Jesus spoke to him saying,”Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”The Lord then invited him to come and Peter fixed his gaze on the Lord. At this point his faith was so strong that Peter did the impossible- he defied the law of gravity and walked on the sea.

However, he saw the wind boisterous, he became distracted, was afraid; and began to sink.

Clearly in the above scenario you see that faith and fear are inversely related to each other. When the faith is little the fear is much; but as faith increases fear gradually fizzles out.

The word of God says we should fix our gaze on Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith- not on our problems, challenges or doctor’s negative report.-Hebrews 12:2. Faith diminishes when we get distracted and shift our focus away from the Author and Finisher of our faith. Fear grows when we exalt our problems above the power of God.

Peter got rescued when Jesus caught him by the hand and set him back on the track of faith.

Prayer Nugget: Father, help me to always keep my focus on Christ and his promises and not on my problems in Jesus name.

Victory Over The Enemy (6)

Date: Sunday, 17th November, 2024

 Text: James 1: 13-15

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

If a man is fighting against another man he can fight for himself, seek help from others or even seek help from God to defend him. If he is under attack by unseen forces of darkness he can call on the name of Jesus and devil will submit. In fact, if God himself is the one resisting a man, he can plead with the almighty for mercy.

However, if a man is his own enemy how will he be free? This is what I call the enemy within. A man is his own enemy when he is the one luring himself into sin.

The word of God says, “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1: 13-15

The elders say, “The external enemies have no power over you if the internal enemies are not complicit.” In other words, it is the internal enemy that open doors to the external enemy.

Everyone has the responsibility of mortifying his flesh; in order words kill every enemy within. The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul says,Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

“You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.” Colossians 3:5-8

The flesh with its desires must be killed so that it doesn’t lead to condemnation.

Paul wrote I harden my body and bring it under complete control, to keep myself from being disqualified after preaching to others. 1 Corinthians 9:27

Prophetic Nugget: Receive grace to put your internal enemies to death by keeping your body and its desires under the firm control of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.

Text: 1 Peter 5:8-9

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

During the COVID-19 lock down, the whole world went on compulsory holiday. So many people were idle and they say, an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

On one of those days, a particular video went viral. In that footage two Nigerian women who were neighours were involved in heated arguments that led to verbal exchange of insults. At a point their husbands got involved and it escalated to a very serious physical brawl.

At a point the fight became bloody as the two men started hitting themselves with any available harmful and dangerous item like wood and broken bottles. Eventually they were rushed to the hospital; one of them was said to have died on the way to the hospital while the other one gave up the ghost later that day.

The two women who started the quarrel became widows and their children also became fatherless the same day! If they had known that what started as a little argument would consume their crowns, they would have done everything possible to quench the evil fire that started from their tongues.

At the end of the day the women would have realized that the fight was not worth it after all. So many people all over the world have suffered similar irreparable losses just because they gave the devil a foothold.

The word of God says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

Again the word of God says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7.

Don’t let the devil hijack your relationships. You don’t have any business negotiating with the devil; simply submit your heart to the Lord. And whenever the devil wants to rear up his ugly head, prayerfully trample upon him and cast him out with the authority of God’s word.

Prophetic Nugget: You are a victor and not a victim in Jesus name.
