Text: Matthew 6:25-34

Exhortation:
The aspect of God you will experience this year depends on how closely you draw to Him. Albert Einstein is quoted as saying that doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result is insanity. There is therefore a need to change your approach this year. Make God your priority—put Him first in all your endeavours. You have relied on your own wisdom for years and achieved little or nothing; why not try another method—depending on God’s wisdom this year?
To rely on God’s wisdom is to obey His Word in every situation of life. God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8–9). Walking with God requires humility—the humility to submit our understanding to His superior insight.
Choosing God’s way demands a deliberate decision. Peter toiled all night and caught nothing, despite exhausting all his professional skills and experience. Then Jesus gave an instruction that did not make natural sense, but thank God Peter obeyed. Had he relied solely on his professional knowledge, he would have gone home empty-handed. Luke 5:1-11 Obedience to divine instruction opened the door to uncommon results.
This year, lay aside your limited wisdom and rely on God’s superior wisdom. Surrender the management of your life to Jesus Christ. Put Him in the driver’s seat and allow Him to direct you like a spiritual Google Map. As you seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, every other thing you desire shall be added unto you.
Prayer Nugget: Father, I surrender my understanding to You this year. Lead me by Your wisdom, order my steps by Your Word, and help me to trust You completely in Jesus’ name.
