Text: Proverbs 21:18

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

When king Herod arrested Apostle Peter with the intention to kill him the next day, the church prayed all night asking God to rescue him. God sent his angel to deliver the apostle. He was set free from the prison without opening the prison doors. All sixteen (16) soldiers guarding the prison were still there armed to the teeth.

The next day when Peter was to be executed, they found the prison cell empty. After king Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the soldiers and ordered that they be executed- Acts 12:1-24

In the same chapter King Herod himself was divinely set up for destruction. He was flattered by subjects who called his voice that of a god. He was idolized and he did not reject it.  Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.

Seventeen (17) people, namely,  the king and sixteen (16) soldiers  lost their lives in place of Peter’s. You why?

The word of God says, “The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.” Proverbs 21:18

When you live a holy life, God is committed to securing and protecting you. You will not die before your time.

Prayer Nugget: Father, I ask for the grace to continually live a life of obedience to your word in Jesus name.
