Text: 1 Samuel 30:1-20
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Self motivation is very important if we must achieve and get going. There are too many things existing to discourage a man, but we can’t afford to fail; we must not give room for excuses. Where there is a will, definitely there must be a way.
When David suffered terrible losses of his family and properties of himself and his men, he had reasons to be discouraged; particularly when the men lost confidence in him as their leader to the extent that they contemplated stoning him.
The word of God says, “Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” 1 Samuel 30:4-6
David must have remembered God’s faithfulness in the past and therefore trusted God for the miracles for the challenges of the moment.
The God who gave him victory over the lion, the bear, over Goliath and who had been fighting his all his battles for him is still alive to repeat the same victory the Amalekite raiders. His faith paid off and he pursued his enemies, overtook them and recovered all.
Beloved, remember Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever more- Hebrews 13:8. What he has done before he has the power to do it again. Keep your faith alive and motivate yourself; once again you will win in Jesus name.
Prayer Nugget: Holy Spirit, please always help me to remember the faithfulness of God in the past and strengthen me to trust God for every new challenge confronting me in Jesus name
