Redeeming Time in the New Year

Text: Ephesians 5:15–16

Exhortation:

Time is one of God’s most precious gifts to humanity, and how we use it determines the quality of our lives and destinies. Scripture instructs us to walk wisely, “redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15–16). Time wasted may not be recovered, but time invested wisely produces lasting fruit. In 2026, wisdom demands that we treat time as a sacred trust from God.

God operates by times and seasons, and nothing in life becomes fruitful outside its appointed time (Ecclesiastes 3:1). When we ignore time, we dishonour purpose and delay fulfilment. Jesus lived with a clear sense of timing, often declaring, “My time is not yet come” (John 7:6). Effective time management aligns our daily actions with God’s divine schedule.

Poor use of time leads to regret, pressure, and missed opportunities, while discipline brings peace and progress. The Bible warns against laziness and careless living, reminding us that “the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty” (Proverbs 21:5). Those who value time are able to balance prayer, work, rest, and relationships without confusion.

As you journey through 2026, ask God for grace to number your days wisely. A heart trained to manage time well will walk in purpose and finish strong (Psalm 90:12). May this year not testify against you, but speak of obedience, productivity, and fulfilled assignments to the glory of God.

Action Nugget: Write down your priorities, align them with God’s purpose, and commit to using your time daily in a way that honours Him and advances your destiny.
