Text: Exodus 33:11-23
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
By the power of his supernatural presence the children of Israel were delivered from a 430-year slavery from the terrible hand of a stubborn pharaoh (Exodus 1-14). There deliverance was possible through a lot of timely supernatural interventions.
However, at a point in their journey to the Promised Land the Israelites backslid into the sin of idolatry by creating and worshipping a golden calf (Exodus 32). At this time Moses was away on the mountain to receive the divine Code of Conduct (Ten Commandments) by which they were to live successfully as an independent nation.
God was very angry with them; in fact, angry enough to wipe them out of the surface of the earth; but, Moses stood in the gap. God, therefore, concluded that he was going to withdraw his presence from them.
Moses understood the grave implication of this and so he pleaded with the lord saying, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” Exodus 33:15-16
One of the major distinguishing attributes that differentiates an unbeliever from a believer is the presence of God.
In the 14th verse of Exodus 33, the Lord replied Moses saying , “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
The presence of the Lord guarantees you victory and rest on all sides. As you prepare to cross over into the New Year, pray that his ever abiding presence will never depart from you and your family in Jesus name.
Prayer Nugget: Father, let your ever-abiding presence never depart from me; please, let me see your hand and glory in every area of my life as I cross over into the New Year in Jesus name.
