Exhortation:

The God who made the Heavens and the Earth, the Almighty, whom we serve, can be emotional. He laughs, weeps, gets angry, he can be funny etc. Being made in his image, we too can be emotional.

Having laid this foundation, it will be easy to understand the next prayer strategy we are about to discuss.

According to today’s text, Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”

Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah:“Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.” Isaiah 38:1-5

God was moved with Hezekiah’s tears, death was cancelled an his life was prolonged by an additional fifteen years.

Sometimes, if all else fails in prayer, try tears. Personally, when I have used many other methods, and it seems I couldn’t get God’s attention, I break down into tears and most times, God responds speedily.

May the Lord hearken unto your prayers this season in Jesus name.

Reflective Nugget: If all else fails in prayer, try tears.
