Sacrificial Giving

Date: Tuesday, 26th September, 2023

Text:  Psalm 126:5-6

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16. Our God is a God of sacrifice. He sacrificed His only begotten son to achieve the global salvation plan.

One major way you can provoke open doors is through sacrificial giving. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him- Psalm 126:5-6

The first seed you must sow sacrificially is the seed of your life. Surrender your life to the Lord today. Jesus Christ said, “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 16:25

Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit (through obedience to God’s word), from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up- Galatians 6:7-9.

Harvest is certain because the word of God says, “While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22.

Sacrifice the seeds of your time, energy and gifts for God’s use; so also the seeds of your financial  substance through bountiful offerings, vows, tithes, first fruits, alms etc 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

Prayer Nugget: Father, I ask for the heart of a sacrificial giver in Jesus name.

El Shaddai

Date: Monday, 25th September, 2023

Text: Genesis 17:1

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

When Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to him, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God (El Shaddai); walk before me, and be thou perfect. Genesis 17:1

Being Almighty suggests that His power is absolute. He reigns supreme over every sin, sickness, death, demon, situation and circumstance. God proved Himself to be the El Shaddai over the barrenness of Sarah. He suspended her menopause at the age of ninety and she became a mother at that age- Genesis 21:1-2.

Jesus Christ was El Shaddai in human form while He walked the face of the Earth. In Him all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form- Colossians 2:9. He spoke to His disciples saying, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Mathew 28:18. He demonstrated His absolute power over the winds; over the water when he walked on it and generally over nature. His power over death was demonstrated at the tomb of Lazarus- John 11:1-44. He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed of the devil- Acts 10:38.

Are you addicted to sinful habits? He is mighty to save. Engage His saving grace today!

Prayer Nugget: Father, confirm your Almightiness in my life today in Jesus name.

Don’t Call His Name in Vain

Date: Sunday, 24th September, 2023

Text: Exodus 20:7

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

How do you feel if someone calls your phone line and when you pick he tells you he is just joking? Or you are at home with your child and he calls, ‘daddy’ or ‘mummy’ and then you answered, ‘my son’ or ‘my daughter, what can  do for you?’ and he/she replies, ‘I am just joking’. How would you feel?

Philippians 2:9-11 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Many people call God’s name in vain. Most people have even turned the name of Jesus to an exclamation mark. Whenever they see something that surprise them, they would shout, “Jesus!”, for every flimsy reason. Some even falsely swear in His name or even bear false witness in His name.

You should only call on His name if you are worshipping Him, in prayer, when preaching about Him or when you are in trouble. Psalm 50:15

Exodus20:7 says, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”

If you want Heaven to respect your voice, do not call God’s name in vain. Repent and honour the name of the Lord.

Prayer Nugget: Father, I repent in any area I have used your name in vain.

Jehovah

Text: Psalm 83:18

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The Sun has been since the beginning and it has not been replaced the way men replace electric bulbs. It was the same Sun that powered the Earth during the time of Adam that still shines till today, It has been in existence from ages past but still as potent as it was from the very beginning. Its age has not and can never reduce its power.

Some people refer to the Bible as an old and obsolete book which is no longer relevant today. This is a deceit from the devil. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever- Hebrews 13:8. His word can never become obsolete or outdated. It is forever settled in Heaven. In Malachi 3:6a, He says, “For I am the Lord, I change not”.

Jehovah (Yahweh) is another name of God in the Holy Scriptures. Psalm 83:18, says, “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.” He is the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity. He was, and is and is to come. Revelation 1:4.

He introduced Himself to Moses as, the “I Am That I Am” – Exodus 3:14. He is the All Sufficient One and unchangeable, ever constant God who changes all things in His favour .

What He has done before, He can do it again. He is no respecter of persons; He shows no partiality or favouritism. What He has done for others He is able to do for you. Call upon Him passionately today and He will prove Himself in your life.

Action Nugget: Keep your faith alive and call upon Him expectantly.

Adonai

Date: Friday, 22nd September, 2023

Text: Daniel 4:34-35

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Another way God is mentioned in the Bible is Adonai.  In most English translations of the Bible it is translated as “Lord” with lower case letters, as different from the name Jehovah (Yahweh) written as “LORD” with all capital letters. It is a way of acknowledging God as the Ruler and Sovereign Master over our lives.

He is the unquestionable God. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation. All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?” -Daniel 4:34-35

Without Him we can do nothing. Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain- Psalm 127:1.

In John 15:5, Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

To accept the lordship of Jesus Christ is to come under His management and daily submit to His will. It is to yield to the control and promptings of the Holy Spirit in our day–to-day activities. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, are the sons of God.-Romans 8:14.

The Spirit of God and His word agree. You cannot claim to be led by the Spirit of God and be living in disobedience to His word. Therefore, to be led by the Spirit of God is to daily live in obedience to God’s word. Submit yourself, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Prayer Nugget: Adonai, I surrender to your will for the rest of my life in Jesus name.

Hallowed Be Thy Name

Date: Thursday, 21st September, 2023

Text: Matthew 6:9-15

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The name of God carries His worth, honour, power, blessings and glory. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Christ, and given him a name which is above every name:That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. Philippians 2:9-11. The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10.

According to today’s text, the first line of the prayer model taught by our Lord Jesus Christ says, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” Matthew 6:9.

To hallow God’s name is to treat His name as a holy; we can achieve this by trusting what God says- Numbers 20:12. It is to believe what He says and lean on His promises. He who does not believe God has made him a liar – 1 John 5:10.

When we pray, “Hallowed be thy name,” we mean, “Father, let your name be feared.” Isaiah 8:12-13. We hallow the name of God when we keep his commandments. We profane the name of God when we break his commandments.

Again, to hallow God’s name is to glorify His name- Leviticus 10:3. When you do something and people say, “And you call yourself a Christian,” the name of Christ is not glorified. Therefore, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven-Matthew 5:16.

One of the ways in which we hallow God’s name is to recognize Jesus as Lord and live our lives to honour God. We surrender our hearts to Him, put our hope in Him, love and obey Him; and tell the world about Him.

Prayer Nugget: Father, please, let your name be praised and glorified in my life in Jesus name.

The Wonderful Names of God

Date: Wednesday, 20th September, 2023

Text: Genesis 1:1

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The name of an individual says a lot about him. It is sometimes a summary of the assignment of that person on Earth or in Heaven Moses was so named because he was rescued from drowning in the water (Exodus 2;10). And one of the most spectacular miracles that defined his ministry was the deliverance of the Israelites via the Red Sea (water surfaces again).

Elijah means “Jehovah is my God”, little wonder this was the same thing the Israelites chanted when God answered Elijah by fire at Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:16-45); again this was one of the most spectacular events in the life and ministry of the prophet. But it was already captured in his name right from birth.

Names could be very prophetic, instructive and powerful. Our God has many names by which He is known. These wonderful names reveal His person, his nature, workings and relationship to us. In the Old Testament there are three fundamental names of God beside his other names and titles. They are Elohim, Jehovah and Adonai.

Elohim means the “supreme one” or “mighty one”. Scholars of the Bible reveal that the word Elohim is one of the most frequently used names for God in the Scriptures. It is this word which is used in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning [Elohim] created the heavens and the earth.”

May God prove Himself to be supreme in your life in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Elohim, please, prove yourself in my life as the supreme one in Jesus name.

Worship Him! (6)

Text: Psalm 150:3-6

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Psalm 63:4 says, “Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands (yadah) in thy name. Yadah means to extend your hands vigorously as in complete surrender.

It comes from two root words, ‘yad,’ which means hand, and ‘ah,’ from God’s name, Jehovah. Basically, ‘yadah’ is responding to God by lifting our hands in praise.

When we worship God and praise Him, we sometimes feel the urge to raise our hands and lift them to Him. Even though no one has taught us about these things, our spirits and bodies naturally know how to respond to God in praise.

Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving (towdah), and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Related to yadah, towdah means extending your hands or raising them, this time, in thanksgiving for something God has done or for what you trust and believe He will do.

Therefore, while yadah involves lifting our hands to God in praise, towdah means extending our hands to Him in thanksgiving.

In today’s text, David said, “Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.” Psalm 150:3-6.

In the above scriptures we see another form of worship termed Zamar in the original Hebrew, meaning instrumental praise.  It involves rejoicing and making music to the Lord.

Every child of God should know and regularly engage the seven dimensions of worship because this is our duty as long as we breathe. And in Heaven, we would all worship God from eternity to eternity. If you have not yet surrendered to Jesus, the Lover of your soul, kindly do so today because tomorrow may be too late.

Prayer Nugget: Father, please, anoint me with the oil of gladness and clothe me with the garment of praise in Jesus name.

Worship Him! (5)

Date: Monday, 18th September, 2023

Text: Romans 12:1-2

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

In Romans 12:1-2, the word of God says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

In the above scriptures we see, at least, four elements of true worship, namely holiness, sacrifice, freedom from worldliness and transformation by mind renewal.

Holiness means total obedience to the will of God. Sacrifice means giving to the Lord whatever He requires of our time, our earthly possessions, and our energies to further His work. The Lord Jesus Christ commanded, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). Our willingness to sacrifice is an indication of our love for God and our devotion to Him.

True worshippers are not distracted by worldly patterns and cultures. They deliberately lay aside all worldly weights, vanities and entanglements. Their main focus is to please God and enlarge His kingdom; and this is where they channel their energies.

One more element of true worship is the spiritual transformation by the renewal of the mind. This happens through the circumcision of the heart by daily exposure to the word of God.

Psalm 95:6 says, “Come and let us worship and bow down; let us kneel (barak) before the Lord, our Maker.” Barak is the Hebrew word for kneeling down and bowing to God in worship.

I pray for you that you will become an addicted worshipper of Christ like never before in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Holy Spirit fill me up in gratitude to God always in Jesus name.

Worship Him! (4)

Text: John 4:23-24

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

It is one thing to worship God; it is another thing to worship Him acceptably. In John 4:24, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

True worship involves worshipping God “in spirit”. Such worship must originate from within; a heartfelt, sincere praise motivated by our love for God and gratitude for whom He is and for what He has done.

To worship God “in truth” you must know the Truth. Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth and Life. John 14:6. Only those who have accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ can worship Him in truth.

Concerning false worship, the Lord said. “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Matthew 15:8-9. Such praise is rejected by the God of Heaven.

There are, at least seven Hebrew words that demonstrates correct dimensions or ways to worship God as spelt out in the Holy Scriptures. We will examine them in the next few days.

Firstly, Halal is the Hebrew word for crazy exuberant praise. It involves praising and celebrating God with reckless abandon. In 2 Samuel 6, King David danced before the Lord with all his might in the midst of his subjects and servants. His exuberant worship put his wife, Michal, in contempt.

Secondly, Shabach in Hebrew means to shout God’s praise loudly from within one’s innermost being. Psalm 47:1 says, “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”

Tehillah is a third Hebrew word which suggests a song of praise, or a new, spontaneous song. It means to sing unrehearsed, unplanned praises to the Lord. Psalm 22:3 says, “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises (Tehillah) of Israel.

Prophetic Nugget: Receive grace to worship God in truth and in Spirit in Jesus name.
