Text: Proverbs 28:13
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
God is plenteous in mercy. The Psalmist says, “As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.” Psalm 103:13-14. Again he says, “Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.” Psalm 1301-4
However, mercy has conditions. The word of God says, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13. A sinner that acknowledges his sin and repents from them will attract God’s attention.
Even though the Bible says the prayer of a sinner is an abomination to God (Proverbs 28:9), one prayer of a sinner that God cannot ignore is a genuine cry for mercy from a repentant heart.
The sacrifice of God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart God, will not despise. Psalm 51:17.
When a sinner genuinely repents one sure sign you will observe is that he will forsake that sin and never return to it again. Such a person will easily obtain mercy from God.
This season may you be a recipient of God’s mercy in Jesus name.
Action Nugget: Do not try to cover up your sins, but rather confess, renounce and forsake them .
