Text: Genesis 26:1-14
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
The economic situation in which Isaac found himself was unfavorable. The word of God said there was famine in the land; there was scarcity and hardship ravaging the country and the only reasonable thing to do was to seek for greener pastures elsewhere.
God spoke to him and asked him to stay back and invest in the midst of famine. That sounded unreasonable but Isaac knew the God that spoke to him. He knew that God is able to bring something out of nothing.
He obeyed God against all odds and invested generously. The Holy Scripture says, “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.” Genesis 26:12-14
Are you ready to move forward? Ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit and obey his promptings. Love what God loves and hate what he hates. Don’t invest into any venture without seeking divine approval. The popular hymn says, “Trust and obey; there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.”
As we step into the New Year you will move forward and wax great in Jesus name.
Key Nugget: Obedience is a major key to moving forward.
