Exhortation:
After interceding for your nuclear and extended families, the next family to pray for is the family of Christ which is the Church, also called the Bride and Body of Christ. The church is a threat to the kingdom of darkness because the more the kingdom of God is populated through her, the more the kingdom of darkness is depopulated.
As the holy angels of God are rejoicing that a soul is won to God’s kingdom, the fallen angels (demons) are mourning because one more soul is lost from Hell. Therefore, the devil is all out to do everything possible to tarnish the image, discredit, bring shame upon and if possible scatter the church.
Satan’s army of demons have the special assignment to bring down the Church Of Christ. He tries to do this through many means, for example through persecution, scandals, Satan-induced delays, poverty, sicknesses etc.
He loves to attack church leaders because he knows that when the leader is down their followers usually scatters- Zechariah 13:7b; hence the need to pray for the church and her leaders.
There is an urgent vacancy for intercessors for the Body of Christ. God spoke through prophet Ezekiel saying, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.” Ezekiel 22:30-31 (NIV)
The God of Heaven is looking for volunteers that will routinely sacrifice their time and energy to intercede for the body of Christ. Will you release yourself?
Action Nugget: Volunteer yourself and as a daily routine, regularly stand in the gap for the Body of Christ starting from your local assembly.
