Text: Exodus 32:1-14
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
To intercede is to mediate or intervene on behalf of another. Moses was a great intercessor who stood in the gap to save the lives of the stubborn and disobedient Israelites. He did that over and over again.
On a particular occasion, Moses had gone to receive the Ten Commandments from the Lord on the Mount Sinai. Within 40 days before his return, the Israelites had backslidden into idolatry. And God was so angry with them that he threatened to wipe them out of the surface of the Earth.
“I have seen these people,” the Lord said to Moses, “and they are a stiff-necked people. Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.”
But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.
He continued interceding saying, “Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’” Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.” Exodus 32:1-14
There is an urgent need for you and I to intercede for lost souls especially those who have been forgotten in physical and spiritual satanic prisons. God is mindful of them and is interested in their salvation. It is urgent because sinners die everyday, both young and old and so we can’t afford to delay in intercession.
Intercede for all sinners. The Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul instructed saying, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.” 1Timothy 2:1
