Text: James 2:2-4
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
Being created in the image of God infers the priceless nature of the soul of a human. It is of an immeasurable worth or eternal value. The original intention of God was for a man to live forever. Though sin brought death, the death and resurrection of Christ brought a renewed hope of eternal redemption to those who put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ- Romans 6:23
The fact that we are all created in the image of God puts all humans on the same level irrespective of our individual status or circumstances. The rich, the poor; the fortunate and unfortunate; the privileged and unprivileged; the literate and illiterate; the famous and the obscure; the intelligent and unintelligent; the wise and the unwise; the young and the old; the male and the female are all on the same flat level.
Apostle James wrote, “Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?” James 2:2-4
There is no room for favouritism. We should therefore stay humble and grateful, irrespective of the side of the divide we find ourselves. Instead of competing with one another, let us rather complement one another with the spirit of humanity and love, continually paying one another the debt of love without any room for arrogance.
Key Nugget: The fact that we are all created in the image of God puts all humans on the same level irrespective of our individual status or circumstances.
